Equipment/ Materials

It is imperative that piano students have an instrument that is in good working order, and tuned regularly (at least once a year).  I can recommend a good tuner for you.  Acoustic pianos are best for building strength in the fingers.  If a digital piano is all that the student has access to, I highly recommend purchasing an acoustic piano.  If a student only has an electric keyboard, a full size piano with pedals will need to be purchased after the first 6 months of study.

Music will be purchased by the teacher as needed for each student.  The cost for this is included in the tuition.

Students should have a bag to transport their music and binder to and from lessons.  It should be big enough that the binder and all of the music fit with room to spare.

A metronome is required for practicing at home.  These can be purchased at any music store, or on Amazon.com, or other online retailers.

A recording device is helpful for voice students for practicing at home.  A small digital recorder or cell phone works well.

Please encourage your students to leave their cell phones or other devices at home if possible (unless they are using it to record the lesson), but if they must have their phones, they should be left in their pocket or bag until the lesson or group class is over.
