Summer Concert Under the Stars

This is a concert in my backyard with the students playing or singing a piece of their own choice that they will prepare on their own, with no help from me.  This is an opportunity for students to put their skills and knowledge to work, and learn independence.  The piece they choose should be on their level- not too easy, not too hard.  I am willing to help students find music if they need help.  They will need to show me their piece so I can ok it, and then, it’s all up to them!

Some ideas for finding music:

-look in the books they have and find a piece they haven’t played yet.

-find a primary song or a hymn.

-favorite pop songs- the internet is a good source- my favorite website to find sheet music is musicnotes.com

-songs that the student has composed.

Music does not need to be memorized.
